I designed the programs and invitations for another friend's wedding (incidentally, the sister of the bride whose invitations I'd done in 2009). The wedding was held outside in the middle of the summer, and had a seriously sweet, vintage fairy tale vibe, complete with a super vibrant color scheme and lots of handmade/hand-painted decor.
The bride sent me a collection of colors that would be used in everything from hanging lanterns to furniture backdrops -- an ebullient, elegant combination of bold and soft shades perfect for a midafternoon summer wedding. I decided to use all the colors for the invitation, communicating the energy and excitement of the event.
In keeping with the vintage theme, I chose type that evoked old signage and classic movie type, with a clean, modern twist.
The wedding programs were printed on heavy cardstock, and doubled as handheld fans - which was perfect for the blisteringly warm afternoon! The bridal party ("Supporting Cast") and schedule of events followed the 'golden age' movie motif, while the opposite side of the fan functioned as a condensed hymnbook for the mid-ceremony worship.
